Nepal to United States
Nepal to the United States, one honest list at a time.
From Queens to Dallas to the Bay Area, Nepali families in the US still want things from home. We send them, with the paperwork US customs expects.
US customs wants to know what is in the box and what it is worth. Food is also seen by the FDA, so we describe each food item plainly on the declaration.
What you can send
- Clothes and shoes: Clothes, shoes, saris and daura suruwal for weddings and festivals.
- Dry, packed food: Sealed spices, tea and snacks with labels. Each one is listed on the declaration.
- Documents: Certificates for credential evaluation, flat in a sleeve.
- Gifts and household items: Puja items, photo frames and small household things.
- Prescribed medicine: Personal use only, with the prescription in the box.
What not to send
- Meat of any kind: Meat products from Nepal are not allowed into the US.
- Fresh produce and seeds: US agriculture inspection stops them.
- Batteries, gas and anything flammable: Power banks, loose lithium batteries, lighters, matches, perfume in large amounts and aerosol cans cannot fly in cargo.
- Cash, gold and copied brands: No cash, gold, silver or jewellery of value, and no fake branded goods. Customs seize them and the parcel stops.
What the receiver needs
US addresses end with city, two-letter state code and ZIP.
- Full name
- Street address with apartment number
- City, state code (NY, TX, CA...) and 5-digit ZIP
- US phone number
Put "Apt" on the same line as the street. Missing apartment numbers cause most failed deliveries.
